System Wallpaper
On macOS 26 and later, publish supported videos to the macOS wallpaper provider so they can keep playing with Loomscreen closed.
System Wallpaper macOS 26+ copies supported videos into a macOS wallpaper provider. You then pick them in macOS Wallpaper settings. The provider can keep playing when Loomscreen is closed.
Availability
- System Wallpaper is available in both Lite and Pro.
- It requires macOS 26 or later.
- It depends on the provider's compatibility check. On an unsupported macOS build, the page reports this and can pause publishing.
Add a video
- Open the System Wallpaper page in the management window.
- Add a supported video. Loomscreen copies it into the provider's library.
- Open macOS Wallpaper settings and select the video there.
Adding a video does not change your desktop on its own. You still choose it in macOS Wallpaper settings.
What it does not include
System Wallpaper is a video-only system path. It does not include:
- Wallpaper Engine scenes
- Web wallpapers
- Overlays such as widgets, clock, music and particles
Those run only inside Loomscreen. See Wallpaper types and Overlay canvas.
Publishing status
System Wallpaper has its own provider. Its publishing status is separate from:
- the wallpaper running inside Loomscreen on a display, and
- the wallpaper macOS currently has selected.
If the status says the provider is paused, use Loomscreen's normal video wallpaper instead.
Settings and storage
Settings → System Wallpaper includes:
- Video playback mode
- Extension status
- Service maintenance
- Removing all videos from the System Wallpaper library
In Pro, Settings → Storage also lists the System Wallpaper video copies.
